The cover was created by Studio Duco, who created my Raven Rock cover, and who recently did work for Leigh Bardugo and Naomi Novik. Studio Duco described the creation of the jacket:

It was a pleasure to reunite with author Nichole Louise to create the cover illustration, typography and complete full sleeve design for her second novel, A Strange & Terrible Wonder, building on the visual language we developed for her debut.

Inspired by the novel’s historical folk horror setting and the mystery of the Lost Colony of Roanoke, we wanted the cover to capture a sense of unease – where the familiar gives way to something ancient, unknowable and deeply rooted in the landscape.

Drawing on the visual language of sixteenth-century woodcuts and engravings, we developed an ominous creature emerging from the darkness, echoing the novel’s supernatural themes while remaining open to interpretation.
